Randall Wexler, MD, MPH

Randell Wexler is the site Principal Investigator (PI) for the Heart Healthy Ohio Initiative (HHOI) at The Ohio State University. Dr. Wexler is a Professor of Family Medicine at The Ohio State University. He currently serves as the Academic Vice-Chair within the Department of Family Medicine. His research career has been focused on improvements in chronic care in general, hypertension and heart failure in particular, and health system change and redesign. Dr. Wexler has collaborated across multiple specialties including cardiology, endocrinology, emergency medicine, and imaging, to conduct funded research as well as pilot studies to further additional grant applications. Dr. Wexler has been published in numerous medical journals, as well as presented at both the national and international level. In addition, Dr. Wexler has worked with Dr. Bolen and other members of her team to improve cardiovascular health in the state of Ohio as site PI of a Medicaid-funded, statewide cardiovascular health collaborative called Cardi-OH. In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Wexler has been responsible for Patient-Centered Medical Home and Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) plus transformation of the Family Medicine offices at the Ohio State University and sits on the Ross Heart Hospital Heart & Vascular Center Operations Council.
